Dave’s Hot Chicken Expands Into the Heart of LA’s Spicy Bird Country

Real estate, as in restaurants, is often about location, location, location. Dave’s Hot Chicken first earned praise for not only serving up deliciously spicy tenders and fries in a surprising East Hollywood location, they then parlayed that into a busy first restaurant not far away off Western Avenue. Now the crew is heading into the heart of hot chicken pop up territory, the Valley.

Dave’s Hot Chicken should be set to open its North Hollywood location before the end of this month. The restaurant is something of a planted flag for owners Arman Oganesyan, David Kopushyan, and Tom and Gary Rubenyan. Since first erupting to fame back in 2017, the group has seen Dave’s Hot Chicken imitators — complete with the same plating of spicy tenders, seasoned fries, and that all-important cole slaw and sauce drizzle — expand by the dozens across Southern California, with a particular focus in Glendale and the greater San Fernando Valley.

Now fresh with expansion plans and a nationwide mindset, the Dave’s team, along with franchise partners John Davis and Bill Phelps, are starting to make their moves. First up is NoHo, with a big new space that should offer improved wait times, streamlined ordering, and lots of room to sit. The menu itself will still be the same as ever, but the hope is to use North Hollywood as a model for future locations in terms of neighborhood, clientele, menu, and hours. So, with so much to learn and so much on the horizon, why not go big with a prominent Valley space? Location, location, location.

Dave’s Hot Chicken is on track to open before October 1 on Lankershim, serving from 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily.
